Following an off road excursion on the second of this mornings stages, rally leaders Jimmy McRae and Andy Richardson were taken to hospital at Carlisle.

Following an off road excursion on the second of this mornings stages, rally leaders Jimmy McRae and Andy Richardson were taken to hospital at Carlisle.

 

Five times British Rally Champion Jimmy McRae was airlifted out of the forest with fractures to his sternum and wrist while Andy Richardson was taken by Ambulance for an investigation into a back problem.

 

Neither man’s injuries were described as serious.

 

A spokesman for the rally said “All the normal safety procedures were in place and worked quickly and efficiently.”
