Tynedale will be the target for thousands of rally fanatics when the Pirelli International Rally blasts into action over the weekend (18/ 19th. April ) with the bulk of the action centred on the slippery gravel tracks in the giant Kielder Forest complex.

Tynedale will be the target for thousands of rally fanatics when the Pirelli International Rally blasts into action over the weekend (18/ 19th. April ) with the bulk of the action centred on the slippery gravel tracks in the giant Kielder Forest complex. where the blind brows and deep ditches provide a stern challenge for those drivers who try just that little bit too hard.

 

The Pirelli International Rally, and the Pirelli Historic Rally which precedes it, will see almost 140 cars in action and enthusiasts are in for a real treat for the rallies have attracted the best entry for years. No fewer than 65 cars will start the Historic event with classic names from the past, Ford Escort and Cortina, Talbot Sunbeam, Vauxhall Chevette, Talbot Sunbeam and MG all featured on the entry list, plus a gaggle of the glorious sounding Porsche 911’s.

 

The Pirelli International Rally is the opening round of the British Rally Championship and as such has all the top names from the world of rallying, the best British drivers plus a strong contingent from Scandinavia while there will be huge interest in the new Citroen C2R2 – Max which will be making it’s first British appearance, driven by the reigning European Rally Champion, Simon Jean-Joseph.

 

There are ample opportunities for rally fans to spectate on the event and special car parks have been arranged with Forest Enterprise at the following places :-

 

The Shanks Special Stage, just off the C200 road near Whickhope Picnic Area

Cars Due at 8:45 am and 3:01pm.

 

Pundershaw Special Stage, car parks at Wallish Walls and Blackaburn, off the Wark – Stonehaugh road.  Cars Due   9:31am and 3:47pm.
