The competitors on the Pirelli Historic Rally are in for a really hectic event as the Route Co-ordinator, Alan Blake, has cut the road mileage to a minimum, meaning non stop action in the Border forests for the hard working crews, with little time to effect repairs if mechanical problems occur.

The rallies first leg features 4 stages in the Kershope Forest complex, with a total of just 2½ miles of public road in between them, meaning almost no stop action from the word go.  With the stages varying in length from 5 to 8 miles, there are sure to be some weary drivers heading back to the overnight halt in Carlisle.

The pressure is no less intense on day 2 which features three long stages in the infamous “Killer Kielder”, Europes largest man made forest, with only a miniscule 1.7 miles of link section meaning both car and driver are going to be tested to the maximum of their capabilities .

The Pirelli Historic Rally is the second round of the Dunlop/ Gambia MSA British Historic Rally Championship and, with several prominent championship contenders posting retirements on the opening round, there is bound to be some intense, hard charging competition as those drivers attempt to claw their way back up the championship leaderboard.

The Pirelli Historic Rally runs over the weekend of 18/ 19th April and features a high profile start and finish in Carlisle’s historic city centre.
