Matt Chases Charity Cash In Carlisle

After a break of over 4 years from international rallying, Cornish rally driver Matt Cotton has returned to the British Rally Championship in 2012 and is partnered by long time friend Glyn Thomas, from Somerset. The South West duo have entered both the BRC and the Fiesta Sport Trophy and join the AVS Motorsport team after the purchase of an ex Elfyn Evans Ford Fiesta ST. The duo will be appearing on the Pirelli International Rally intent on not only scoring championship points but also raising a significant amount of cash for a very worthy cause.

Matt's last outing in the BRC was in 2008 with a Citroen C2R2 in which he placed 3rd overall in the Citroen Cup. As with many privateers, Matt has had a struggle to find the required finances to complete the season and has spent the break from rallying trying to raise the budget to contest the series once again. But this time around there is a serious side to Matt and Glyn's rallying season.

The pairing have embarked on a fundraising campaign for Cancer Research UK and will use the fantastic media exposure, high profile coverage and spotlight on the team to reach and hopefully exceed their target of £5000 for this worthy cause. Both on and off events, the team will be asking fellow competitors, spectators and supporters to dig deep in their pockets for this valuable charity that is close to their hearts and means so much to them both.

Last year, Matt lost his father to cancer after a short illness and will compete in 2012 for the first time without his wisdom and support. In 2006 Glyn's Mother was diagnosed with breast cancer but has received successful treatment and is now in remission. We all know someone who has suffered from this terrible disease and this is just part of the reason why Matt and Glyn chose to support Cancer Research UK and give a little something back to this valuable cause during their rallying season.

Matt and Glyn will be at every BRC round this year asking you to dig deep for this worthy cause. If you cannot get around to seeing them on an event, you can also donate via their Just Giving site; www.justgiving.com/Rally4CancerResearch

You can also donate by texting RFCR99 £1 to 70070
