SPECTACULAR
SEND OFF FOR RALLY STARS
April’s Pirelli International Rally, the second round of
the Pirelli British Rally Championship, will feature the most
spectacular and high profile send off of any event in the series
with the start ramp located in Gateshead’s amazing new Baltic
Square, right in the heart of Europes most dramatic urban development.
Set against the stunning backdrop of the multi award winning Gateshead
Millennium Bridge and adjacent to the new £46 million Baltic
Centre for Contemporary Art, crews are promised a real “Razzamataz”
send off with the normal throng of rally enthusiasts likely to
be swelled by the thousands who flock to the trendy bars, brasseries
and restaurants which have turned the Newcastle/Gateshead Quayside
into Britain’s “Must See” party venue.
Following
the success of last years highly praised “Spectator Special”
and Rally Show in Gateshead’s Watergate Park, the organisers
are planning to repeat the exercise at a new venue nearer the
town centre.

for the Pirelli International Rally organisers commented, “
The move to Gateshead in 2002 proved to be a real winner and we
look forward to working once again with Gateshead Council to ensure
this years rally is another runaway success for both competitors
