Rally Revs Up For Cumbrian Championship Challenge

The high speed, high octane world of International motor rallying returns to Carlisle over the weekend of 23rd/24th. April with the well established Pirelli International Rally once again confirmed as the Second round of the 2010 MSA British Rally Championship.

The Cumbrian based rally has retained it's place in the U.K's top series for an incredible 19th year, a tribute to the hard work and professionalism of the organising Cumberland Sporting Car Club.

The 2010 Pirelli International Rally will be based at Carlisle Racecourse where the excellent facilities will host the Rally Headquarters, Media centre and the large Service Park. There will be  a live commentary as the cars cross the Start and Finish line and the rally organisers are hoping that a large crowd turn up to cheer the cars away.

The spectacular, thrill a minute action takes place over a series of "Special Stages" run over the tight twisting forest racks in Kershope and the legendary "Killer" Kielder complex where the slightest slip or lack of concentration can send the cars plunging of the road,  bringing their rally to a premature end.

In the past, the Pirelli International rally has attracted a host of top drivers including former world champions Ari Vatenen, Richard Burns and Colin McRae, while local hero, Malcolm Wilson has notched up four victories on the event. Despite the current recession, the rally organisers are confident of atracting a top field again this year, whilst there is already considerable interest from major car manufacturers including Ford, Citroen and Suzuki.
