After the rain and fog of last night, the dry
and sunny conditions saw the 4 wheel drive cars starting to take
an advantage.
Stage 6 the first of the day saw Finn Tapio Laukkanen
in his Subaru Impreza WRC take the stage by six seconds from Jonny
Milner (Toyota Corolla WRC). A further five seconds behind was
the current British Touring Car Champion James Thompson (Mitsubishi
EVO 6). Last years winner Mark Higgins (Renault Clio) was the
first of the Super 1600s, 19 seconds off the leading time.
Overnight leader Guy Wilks (Ford Puma) commented
that he was on the rev limiter all through the stage. He still
lost just over 30 seconds to Laukkanen but remains in the overall
lead.
